William Kain County Park is a Park located in Southern York County. The park features two Lakes;Lake Redman and Lake Williams. The park is 1,637 acres. It is a great place to go fishing, hiking, and boating. The park features over twelve miles of trails for biking, horseback riding, and hiking.

Need to place to have a get together? Consider renting a pavilion for your next picnic or party. Also available are horseshoe pits, volleyball court and playground.

When I visited in May I went to the extension of trail number five with the Bird View Deck. I saw a number of ducks and Egrets when I visited. The best time to see the birds is in the spring and fall. If you just walk the extension it is a quarter mile loop from the parking lot.

I however extended it by hiking more of trail 5. A trail map of the park is available online in pdf from their website. When hiking take note that hikers yield to horseback riders and bikers yield to both hikers and horseback riders.

Directions:From York, follow S. George St. to Jacobus. For Lake Redman, turn left onto Church St. and go .6 mile to boat launch area on left. For Lake Williams, turn right onto Water St. and go .5 mile to main parking area. When hiking be safe drink plenty of water and wear bug repellent. See you on the trails!
