Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area

by John Martin
(Millersville, PA)

The Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area is located close to the border of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. From Lancaster it was about a 35-40 minute drive. The land is maintained by the Pennsylvania Game Commission providing protection for wildlife in Central PA. In late winter Waterfowls are the main attraction for Bird Watchers and Photographers. At peak time you will find more than 100,000 Snow Geese, 10,000 Tundra Swans and 10,000 Canadian Geese. Middle Creek is a stopping point for the Waterfowls as the move north for their breeding season.

On a recent visit a nesting Bald Eagle could be seen through binoculars/scopes approximately 500 yards away.
