I have stumbled upon The York Emporium, a diamond in the rough. A secret known only to the locals. It is one of the coolest book stores; it is 19,000 sq ft! They have a huge selection of used and rare books. They have upwards of 500,000 titles. They also have music, videos, military items, antiques, comics, and other cool odds and ends. It's everything you've ever wanted in a book store and more. Or shall I say Curiosity shop?
This is a book lover's dream. I literally could spend days in there. You name the topic and I am pretty sure there is a book in there about it. Which, I must say is reasonably priced. I have been to many book stores and none even comes close to this one. There is great music, free coffee, and a unique atmosphere. I literally was singing and dancing while I was there. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. They offer off street parking and free Wi-Fi.
Be sure to check out their events. They have many different events going on all the time. They have a Sci-Fi day, a horror day, the Guitar Box Festival, various sales, guest authors, movies and much more. They also participate in First Friday York.
